Jimmie on the lookout. One of the things that is pleasantly lacking from the TLG trail is hawkers! The only people we came across were local goat herders and a couple of other hikers.

The next morning I opted for the Naxi breakfast of Yunnan butter coffee and cornmeal porridge. I don't remember anything about their flavour so I guess they were neither great nor terrible.

Climbing a series of switchbacks. Most guides tell you about the 28 switchbacks that we would tackle tomorrow. No one seems to mention these first 20. Quite a shock to the system.

We made it! The bus dropped us off at Qiaotou and with a bit of luck we found ourselves on the right track, leaving our bags at Jane's Tibetan Guesthouse along the way for the princely sum of 5 yuan!

I forgot to take photos of our room or the more interesting parts of the guest house. Here's the courtyard just inside the entrance. Towards the top left is a roof top with tables and chairs where one may admire the surrounding scenery.

9 hours to Walnut Garden Family Guest House. As it is almost 5pm we are fortunate that we are only going to Naxi Guest House 2 hours away :)

This bit really gave me the heebie jeebies. The path clings to the side of the mountain and isn't all that narrow but there's nothing stopping you plunging maybe 50m.

We got to Tina's and decided to try for the bus back to Lijiang. Turns out we missed the bus but were able to get a van back to Qiaotou where another van took us and 5 others (4 in the back seat!) to Lijiang bus terminal, via lots of cool little villages.
