Middleton founded 1854. The former Bible Christian Methodist Church built in 1863. It closed in 1971. Now a fine residence. Viewed from the Steam Ranger train from Goolwa to Victor Harbor.

Milang Institute 1884. Opened by James Rankine of Braemer House Strathalbyn. Note all the ventilator grills across the facade. Built in local limestone.

Strathalbyn flour mill. This four storey structure was built in 1850. Sold to Laucke Milling Company in 1938. Closed 1961 when Lauckes opened a new flour mill elsewhere in Strathalbyn.

Gundagai. This flourmill built in 1849 was the only building to survive the Murrumbidgee River floods of 1852. The new town was built higher up the hill. It closed a flourmill in 1917. You can buy it now.

Albury. The War Memorial on top of Western Hill. Started in 1924 to mark centenary of Hume and Hovells explorations of 1824. Opened in 1925.

Gundagai. The former Commercial Bank of Sydney built in the Italianate style in 1880. It is now a NAB Bank.

Swan Hill. The Art Deco style Town Hall built in 1934 at a cost of over 21,265 pounds. It was restored a few years ago. Note urns in niches on front wall.

Port Elliot. An antique shop which was an old general store with 24 paned windows which would date it to the 1850 or 1860s. The Registry.

Echcua. This new bridge across the Murray River was completed in 2022.

Front view of Newland Memorial Church opened in 1927. The old church next door became the Congregational church hall. An unsual church in a Greek classical style, curved with colannade.Beautiful and distinctive.

Menindee. The railway from Sydney reached here in 1919 and only crossed the River Darling in 1927. The water tanks for the steam engines are beyond it. Used for the Indian Pacific these days.

The Davey flour mill or grist mill erected in Eudunda South Australia in 1879. One of first industrial buildings in the town. For many years owned by Lauke Milling Company.

Strathalbyn cemetery. The headstone of Gemmel Rankine. The Rankine brothers were founders of Strathalbyn in 1839. There is a settlement outside the town called Gemmels.

The blue stone Gas Works in Strathalbyn. It lit the street lamps from the 1870 until 1917 when electricity took over. It has a domed shape typical of gas works.

Blanchetown. The old Blanchetown hotel built in 1858. The license came from the Whipstick Inn on Portee Station. Note old chimneys.

Strathalbyn High School. Began in February 1913 with 34 students. This purpose built high school opened 4 May 1926 by the Education Minister Mr Hill. Now senior campus of East Fleurieu School.

Strathalbyn. Dr John Rankine and his brothers were pioneer settlers of the town which was established in 1839. This is just one of many impressive Rankine headstones in the Strathalbyn cemetery.

Corowa NSW. The home of Australian Federation. The Oddfellows Hall built in 1886 and site of the motion to adopt a federal constitution which was adopted in 1893.
