Strathalbyn. The town was established in 1839. The Gollans were a pioneering family that took up pastoral lands around Lake Alexandrina and Lake Albert. Gollan grew the first wheat crop and built the flourmill in 1850.

Goolwa. Thornbury House built in 1880 for Thomas Goode and merchant of the town and the fistt mayor. It has bay windows and decorative barge boards on the gables The District Council of Goolwa was formed in 1858.

Gundagai. The solid stone wall of the Gundagai prison and one of the buildings. It was built around 1859 and designed by the colonial architect Alexander Dawson. Gundagai was in bushranging country in the 1860s.

Gundagai. The red brick and sandstone quoins of the Catholic Church built in 1885. It still has its slate roof tiles. The architect was E C Manfred who also designed the Tumut Catholic Church and many buildings in Goulburn.

Strathalbyn Railway Station built 1883 when the line from Victor Harbor to Strathalbyn was extended to Mt Barker Junction and Adelaide. At that time the 1867 horse tram line was converted to broad guage for steam engines.
