Geelong. The towered Post Office on the corner of Ryrie and Gheringhap Streets. Postal services began around 1840. This Post Office was built 1890. It is now closed as a Post Office.

Adelong. Old gold mining town. The Bank of NSW and manager's residence built in 1882. Bank opened in Adelong in 1859.

Young. The impressive main entrance to the Young State School built in 1883. On the rigth attached to it is the headmasters residence.

Williamstown. The restored Bowden cottage on the Barossa Goldfields. First rush was 1868 but miners tried to eke a living here until the Great Depression. Now a museum. Iron police lock or cell in background.

Buninyong. Holy Trinity Anglican Church. Built in local basalt in 1862. Still in use.

Maryborough Victoria. This old technical institute was built in 1890 with a single story laboratory block behind it. This western part was built in the same style in 1928.

Grenfell. Old gold mining town. The railway arrived in 1901 from Cowra. This pretty railway station built around that time.

.Bendigo. The Grimbsy roller flourmill. Part was built in 1873. A second stage was built in 1887. It ceased operations in 1970 and has been converted into offices.

Grenfell. The Catholic Church bought this land in 1872 and operated a school on it. This fine Gothic Church was built in 1906.

Coonalpyn. The Coonalpyn Congregational Church built in l1927. Congregational services began in 1907 in the old institute in the street behind this church. That institute is now the RSL Hall.

Maryborough. The 1888 built School of Arts building. For many years it was the town library. Architect was Grainger of Adelaide. It is now the Historical Society Museum.

Gulgong. Henry Beaufoy Merlin and Charles Bayliss photographed Gulgong gold rush in 1872. 500 glass plate negatives are now the Holtermann Collection Museum. UNESCO heritage listed. Their portable dark room.

Edenhope. The first Presbyterian church in the town was built in 1868. It was replaced by this new Presbyterian Church in 1931. It is now the Uniting Church.

Dunedin. Lanarch Castle 1872. The Lanarch family motto was a play on words. Without fear but their motto embelm was a ginger cat. Using French sans peur.

Beechworth. This was a gold rush town from 1852. This superb granite wall was built behind the early Bank of New South Wales. Protection from bushrangers was needed in the 1850s.

Maryborough. A replica of the Mary Ann steam train built at Walkers Foundryby Olds and Sons. The original train was built in 1873 to cut timber from the hinterlands of Cooloola Creek. Now operates as a tourist train in Queens Park.
