Galong. Edward Ryans Galong Castle built with very thick walls in the 1840s. He added to it in 1860 before dying in 1871. The Redemptorists built a monastery around it in 1918.

Galong. Ex convict Ned Ryan built his Galong Castle with walls several feet thick in the 1840s. In 1860 he added a single storey wing to it. When Ned died in 1871 he left Galong Castle to hs sister Anastasia Ryan who died in 1900

Forbes. The Town Hall facing Victoria Squ. Gold royalties permitted a grand structure. The part with the corner tower finished in 1891. The left hand part was the first Town Hall about 1870 when Forbes became a municipality.

Forbes. This beautifully restored two storey Victorian town house in Templar Street was built in 1884 by merchant William Thomas. He was the Mayor of Forbes who donated the fountain for Victoria Square.
