| 説明 | In the Middle Ages this was called the "House of Pilate", probably because mystery plays enacting the Passion of Christ took place outside. A character in Thomas Nashe's picaresque Unfortunate Traveller (1594) "was at Pontius Pilate's house and pist against it." Perhaps Nashe had done so himself when he visited Rome in 1587. |
