| 説明 | A "Doom" painting above the chancel arch behind the rood was a common feature of Medieval churches. It depicts the Day of Judgment and the Weighing of Souls. Most of these paintings were lost thanks to iconoclasts following the Reformation, but this one survived because it was covered in whitewash rather than being erased. It was rediscovered in a more enlightened era. |
