| 説明 | One of the last Bristol Freighters produced, this aircraft first appeared in its maker’s ‘B Condition’ marks G-18-205. It was registered G-AOUV and leased to Air Charter from 27 Dec 1956. The airline named it ‘Valour’ and bought it outright in Dec 1958. It passed on to Air Charter’s successor companies Channel Air Bridge, British United Air Ferries and British Air Ferries. The Southend-Ostend car ferry service was formally jointly-operated with SABENA, but the Belgian airline never contributed any aircraft. Instead, at different times a CAB/BUAF/BAF Superfreighter was painted in SABENA colours and used on the service. G-AOUV thus wore SABENA livery from Apr 1957 to Nov 1959. I photographed it outside the Aviation Traders hangar at Southend in Oct 1966 in BUAF colours. It was never actually operated by BAF, having been withdrawn from service at Lydd in May 1967 and it was broken-up there in Apr 1968.Photo: Richard John Goring (Transportraits) |
