| 説明 | Le châtaignier est né de la fureur de Jupiter. Courtisée par Jupiter, l'une des nymphes de Diane, Néa, préféra se tuer plutôt que de perdre sa vertu. Pour lui rendre hommage, le maître des dieux transforma sa dépouille en un arbre majestueux, le Casta Néa (chaste Néa), dont les fruits garnis de piquants symbolisent cette triste aventure.Castanea is the latin word for chestnut. Legend has it that Casta Nea (Chaste Nea) was a beautiful Nymph courted by Jupiter who chose her vertue rather than the God of Gods by killing herself. In homage, Jupiter transformed her body into a chestnut tree, the thorny burs standing reminder of her painful destiny.Rabelais est plus prosaïque:Panurge ayant marié le roi Anarche avec une vieille lanternière (prostituée), après disner (de noce) amena le couple au palais de Pantagruel et les montra à Pantagruel et luy dist, monstrant la mariée: - Elle n’a garde de péter- Pourquoi? dist Pantagruel- Pour ce (dist Panurge) qu’elle est bien entamée- Quelle parole est cela? dist Pantagruel- Ne voyez-vous (dist Panurge) que les chastaignes qu’on faict cuire au feu, si elles sont entières, elles pètent que c’est raige (rageant) et, pour les engarder (empêcher) de péter, l’on les entame. Aussi, ceste nouvelle mariée est bien entamée par le bas, ainsi elle ne pètera point”.(Pantagruel chap.
