| 説明 | This 20' standing stone guards the Stenness end of the isthmus connecting the southern lands between Stromness and Kirkwall with northern Orkney. The Loch of Harray can be seen here while a few yards left the road is lapped by the waters of the Loch of Stenness. The Watch Stone is part of the Standing Stones of Stennes and Ring of Brodgar complex. The Ring of Brodgar lies a pleasant twenty minutes walk north along the B9055 and its on my itinerary, but first I'll be walking past the Stenness Stones to see the remains of the Neolithic village of Barnhouse. |
