| 説明 | Before Automobili Lamborghini became an international shorthand for confused pubescent onanism, they used to make cars like these. Ferruccio Lamborghini was obsessed with building proper grand tourers, stylish cars for driving across Europe's roads rather than sitting down "sports" vehicles, and the fact that he constantly had to fight against the tacky boy-racerish instincts of his designers burned him out. In 1974, he sold up and left, and the Countach was introduced: its name is an Italian term for leering at girls in a sexually threatening way. A big red flag signalling the marque's sudden decline with the departure of its founder. With nobody to reign in the designers' obsessions with novelty doors and their inability to provide proper luggage space, adjustable seats, or good enough visibility to reverse without having to stick your head out of the specially designed doors, Lamborgini became what Ferruccio had been reacting against: just another sportscar manufacturer, producing cars ill-equipped for road driving, understyled, overengineered in all the wrong places: wet dreams for the kind of man whose social instincts have been retarded in boyhood by inhaling the fumes from too many tinlets of Humbrol enamel. |
