| 説明 | The PersecutedIt's odd how we always resemble our tormentorsin all the most important particulars. Someof us are predators by birth and instinct, sobrutes with shotguns shoot us down, impaleus on wires, the barbs sunk deep into our skins.Others are opportunists - and our kin, thoserank capitalists, who steal under the slick guiseof industry, do us in with mousetraps, racks, crucifixes. Then there are the ones who touchsuch an exquisite nerve, you can't resistthe urge to slap - though you have been archlittle parasites yourselves, and wouldn'tbe missed. Last, there are some who live on streetswhom you begrudge the Kingdom, and your satin sheets.Poem by Giles Watson, 2013. |
