| 説明 | Climate Action Moreland canvassed shoppers and passersby outside the Mechanics Institute on Sydney Road in Brunswick regarding subsidies to fossil fuel companies and big polluters."Every year over $10 billion of taxpayer money is spent subsidising big polluters, including some of the world's most profitable mining companies. That's the equivalent of giving them $65 million from people in this electorate alone."Good reception with many people signing a petition to the local Federal member of parliament Kelvin Thompson. The event was part of a series co-ordinated by Environment Victoria to pressure the Federal Government to reduce and stop the substantial subsidies they prop up large polluting companies and use this money for programs such as clean energy subsidies, improving public transport and cycling infrastructure, implementing the Gonski reforms to the education system, rolling out the National Disability Insurance Scheme to name just a few. |
