| 説明 | Notice the complicated switch of the rack-and-pinion railway.When I went through some of my older files (from 2005 in this case) I found this series which I took during a family outing in summer. We went by ship from Königswinter to Linz on the river Rhine (and back) and went up the Drachenfels mountain riding the famous cog railroad. This mountain railroad is only 1 mile long (1520 meters) and negotiates a difference in altitude of 220 meters (660 ft). Here you see one of its electric railcars whose design is from 1950. Just like a tramway the cars are operated with 750 V AC current. From the peak of the Drachenfels mountain you have a wonderful view over the Rhine valley and the city of Bonn. |
