| 説明 | This huge three-ring sculpture titled "Gyre" is in the sculpture garden of the North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC. It was created on site by North Carolina artist and designer Thomas Sayre. The concrete rings were made by pouring concrete colored with iron oxide into elliptical trenches dug into the ground with a backhoe, and these were then raised up with a crane. Simple idea, spectacular effect. For some reason, I find this sculpture particularly appealing and intriguing. To me, it looks very surrealistic, like a magic doorway or portal: As if you will probably be transported into another dimension or a totally different place if you walk through the circles. |
