| 説明 | Andy Cave gave an excellent lecture on winter climbing on Ben Nevis where he is currently doing hard stuff for a new film. In my picture Andy is seen here presenting the sixth Scottish Mountain Culture Award to Myrtle Simpson which she richly deserves for her lifetime devotion to high and wild places, she has quite a story to tell. Her involvement in the development of skiing in Scotland; where she played a key role in the setting up of Glencoe, Cairngorm and Nevis Range Ski centres has earned her this well-deserved recognition.In preparation for the event I have been reading Andy Cave's Autobiographical Climbing book: Learning to Breath -" from depths of the pit (coal) to the roof of the world" I had it with me but as there was no public signing going on I didn't feel like button-holing him, wouldn't want to be thought of as - jist anither wee groupie! would I?Myrtle Simpson's titles include:Due North 1970Greenland Summer 1973Vikings Scots and Scraelings 1977.My Beauly friends Neil and Sheila joined me for the evening which was really good and tomorrow we will be out on the hill - even better. |
