| 説明 | The Parallel Roads in Glen Roy are a naturally occurring geological feature left behind once the last Ice Age ended. The parallel lines are the shorelines of the once ice-dammed lakes, several metres wide they have cut into the bedrock of the hillsides and in some places are covered by lake gravel. They extend along the sides of of Glen Roy, Glen Gloy and parts of Glen Spean. The theory is that they were formed through a combination of hard frost weathering and wave action along the lake shoreline. The control of lake levels by the different cols allowed the lakes to survive for long enough for the Precambrian bedrock to be eroded. |
