| 説明 | Pannett Park, Whitby declined in the 1970s as government funding was diverted. In 2005 following public pressure Friends of Pannett Park were formed. Working in partnership with Scarborough Borough Council and Whitby Town Council the Friends set to restoring the park by tackling weeds and overgrown shrubberies and reinstating the park's iconic Floral Clock. This was followed by the restoration of the entire park all funded by the Heritage and Big Lottery Funds. Paths were resurfaced, borders replanted, a state-of-the-art play area created, together with a series of small gardens, one of which the Jurassic Garden links Whitby's history to the park and to the artefacts in the award winning museum which is located in the park. Green Flag status has been gained yearly since 2010. Pannett Park is now a vibrant place attracting large numbers of visitors across the seasons. |
