The University have one of the best mathematician in the world - Professor Andrew Wiles who have proofed the Fermat's Last Theorem which greatest mathematicians in the history even couldn't do.By the way, the book "Fermat's Last Theorem" is really a great book and I strongly recommend you to read! Especially when you are not interested or don't like mathematics. It is really easy to understand thanks to awesome talent of Simon Singh. You'll get an idea why mathematicians are so into math if you'd read the book.マートン・カレッジはオックスフォード大学を構成する大学の一つです（オックスフォード大学はオックスフォードにある複数の大学の総称です）いうまでもなく、オックスフォード大学は世界最高水準の教育レベルで有名ですが、マートン・カレッジは私のように数学大好きな人や、サイモン・シンによって書かれた本「フェルマーの最終定理」を呼んだことのある人にとっては非常に有名な大学で、世界最高の数学者の一人アンドリュー・ワイルズ教授の所属する大学です。ワイルズ教授はガウスのような史上最高の数学者たちでも証明できなかったフェルマーの最終定理を証明したことで有名です。ところで、「フェルマーの最終定理」はとてつもなく良い本で、特に数学がつまらないとか、苦手だと思っている人に強くおすすめです。著者サイモン・シンのおかげで数学が苦手な人にでもすごく読みやすく仕上がっていますし、（数学が苦手な人がよく疑問に思う）数学って何がそんなに楽しいの？って疑問に答えてくれる本でもあります。もちろん数学好きにもおすすめで、私なんて最後の方は感動して号泣してしまいました。翻訳者の青木薫さんも原文に胸打たれるものがあって泣きながらの翻訳作業だったそうです。[ Nikon D4, Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, 16mm, f/5.6, 1/100sec, ISO1000 ] |
