| 説明 | Fred found this Cicada emerging from its nymphal shell. The wings were soft and held flat and down while they dried when they reverted to the normal 'tented' position. This particular one is a large one and is wonderful to hear it click and make a ticking sound as it flies through the air. "Cicadas live underground as nymphs for most of their lives, at depths ranging from about 30 cm (1 ft) down to 2.5 m (about 8.5 ft). The nymphs feed on root juice and have strong front legs for digging." See Wikipedia for more information and a video of a cicada emerging from its final instar nymphal case. |
