| 説明 | I spent the weeks around Christmas with my family in Germany, as I always do. I brought along with me a Yashica 35 CC which I hadn't yet used and being the only camera I had it was the perfect opportunity to get to know it.It turns out there's a lot to like about it. Unlike it's more common sibling, the Yashica Electro 35, it features a smaller form factor roughly comparable to a Canonet. It has a better viewfinder which appears slightly dimmed down and that makes the rangefinder patch easily visible.Its best feature however must be the lens: a very fast 35mm f/1.8 which appears to perform quite well. It's not however a focal length I'm very competent with - too wide for me.The downsides of the little Yashica: no indication of chosen shutter speed anywhere, no manual overrides and a limited ISO range of 25-500. The latter turned out to be a problem as I had several rolls of ASA-400 film with me (Tri-X, HP5+ and Neopan) which I've gotten into the habit of pushing a stop to increase the contrast a little. I've therefore first used up the several rolls of Delta 100.Maybe unwisely, I decided to shoot those at ASA-400 - days were drab and gray and I felt this should give a more vivid result. It didn't. The two rolls I've developed so far (one stand-developed and the other more traditionally with HC-110 and an increase in development time) gave me flat and boring negatives. This photo here is one of the more usable ones which gives you an idea how bad the others must have been.I took it in the rather unmemorable city of Euskirchen. It may give the impression that it's a nice enough place but there is really not much of interest there. This is the market square and that monument supposedly serves as a reminder of its past as a town with predominantly textile industry.It was shot on Delta 100 pushed two stops and developed in HC-110 (dilution B) for 8 minutes. |
