説明 | A bottle of World Wide Stout from Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, Delaware, at Monk's Porter House in Stockholm, Sweden.Dogfish Head World Wide Stout is a massive imperial stout and at 18% abv it's one of the strongest naturally fermented beers in the world. It's brewed using six different yeast strains over seven months and then aged for half a year before bottling! This particular beer was bottled on November 17, 2009, making it a little over three years old when I tried it.The beer poured thick into the glass, dark brown in color with a reddish tinge to it and a small tan head on top. The aroma, once the beer warmed up a bit, was sweet and rich with dried and overripe fruit notes and some burnt sugar too. The high alcohol was well concealed in this rich "soup". The mouthfeel was viscous, oily and flat, with a velvety soft texture. The flavor was sweet, but not sticky - more a rounded sweetness, with dried fruits and sweet berries and a warming alcohol bite I could feel up to my hair roots. Each sip took minutes to savor, with a long sweet and fruity aftertaste. Almost like a fortified wine.Dogfish Head WWS is an awesome imperial stout, there's really no other like it. It's not an easy beer to drink, as every sip is like a meal, besides the alcohol would quickly knock you out if you drink it in a hurry. But it's such a rich and amazing beer experience, it really is a one of a kind beer.---I've had this amazing beer both on draft and bottle before, but it had been a couple of years since the last time so I was really happy to find it in Stockholm.[blog entry] |
