| 説明 | Chesme Palace was originally built as an intermediate travel-stop palace. It was requested by Catherine II and she used to stop there to rest on her way to Tsarkoye Selo after its completion.In Neo-Gothic style, it was designed by the architect Yuri Veldten between 1774 and 1777. He was also involved with the construction of Chesme Church. The palace wasn’t much used as a traveller’s resting place and uninhabited most of the time until the second half of the 19th century to 1919 when it was then used as an almshouse. Later and until 1930 it was part of a forced labour camp (prison). Today Chesme Palace is the home to one section of the State University of Aerospace Instrumentation.Strange sky! |
