Sunday afternoon, 1 January 2005Sunday Photo Walk - Street PhotographyElvert Xavier Barnes Photography_________________Though I have photographed the Chinese New Year Parde on several occasions in the past I would not begin to focus on the architecture and streetscape of Chinatown until Christmas Eve 2004. One of the main facts that, in the past, had always affected but, perhaps, now more influence my picture-taking in Chinatown has been the shadows and the shade affect that always was present. So, in many of the pictures in this series, instead of affording or 'being affected' by shadows my project for New Years Day 2006, in Chinatown, was to embrace and include shadows as an intricate element of my picture-taking. As was the case when I'd take several pictures of bicycles chaimed to poles along 7th Street such as www.flickr.com/photos/perspective/80997894/.Some have asked 'why do you take so many pictures?'. Each picture that I take not only documents a moment in time, but, is a very important part of my learning process.In this picture, the shadow in the foreground, represents a self-portrait.In the near future I will return to Chinatown to delve more into 'shadows'"! |
