| 説明 | This monument has been erected in 1913 to commemorate the centenary of the Völkerschlacht (Battle of the Nations). This slaughter was the deciding battle against Napoleon Bonaparte. The allied forces of Prussia, Austria, Russia, and Sweden defeated the French troops just south of Leipzig; this brought the "Befreiungskriege" (wars of liberation) to an end.
