My photos are FREE for anyone to use, just give me credit and it would be nice if you let me know, thanks - NONE OF MY PICTURES ARE HDR.Crucifix in the Old Stella Maris Cemetery.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Stella Maris Roman Catholic church stood here from about 1891 until 1968. It served the communities of old Town, West Louisbourg and the Town of Louisbourg. The church and associated glebe house were removed, along with many homes, as part of the project to reconstruct the Fortress Louisbourg.The cemetery is still a final resting place for those families who had plots there or other older members of the Old Town community.Old Stella Maris cemetery represent only a portion of those who are buried there. Many people either do not have markers, or the wooden crosses or field stones marking their graves have disappeared. |
