説明 | The tiny Temple of August (Augustine) Piety dates back to the 2nd century AD during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. It lies in front of the “Square of the Rose of the Winds". It mainly consists of four square pillars. Funded by a certain Caius Pompeius Nahanius, the building was identified by Thomas d’Arcos in 1631 with the help of an inscription that was still in situ at the time. In a vicinity of the temple, one can see a mosque which was the last remnant of the little village that existed on the site until the creation of New Dougga. |
