| 説明 | Bulldozers move sand as it is being pumped from an offshore dredge to create a berm to act as the edge of the newly formed/renourished Plumb Beach as part of ongoing coastal storm risk reduction work there in Brooklyn. The sand is being beneficially reused from dredging in Ambrose Channel, which is part of the ongoing New York and New Jersey Harbor Deepening Project. The Army Corps of Engineers is carrying out the Plumb Beach work in partnership with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and the National Park Service. Phase I of the work includes placing approximately 127,000 along the beach where severe erosion has been encroaching upon the Belt Parkway, which is a critical piece of New York City’s infrastructure. A temporary Geotube groin will be installed to mitigate sand movement until Phase II begins. Phase II will include the construction of two permanent stone groins at each end of the beach and a stone breakwater in the water to help limit the loss of sand at the beach.
