| 説明 | A ceremonial tree planting, by VIPs and an Eagle Scout, took place on October 9, 2012 to showcase the $500 thousand first phase of an aquatic invasive plant species removal project, under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, at Times Beach Nature Preserve.Rep. Brian Higgins and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz joined U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District Commander LTC Owen Beaudoin for a ceremonial tree planting at the site. Partnering with Erie County, the City of Buffalo and the Friends of Times Beach, a variety of mechanical and chemical methods will be used to remove invasive species and replant with native species under the auspices of the Corps' Engineer Research and Development Center's aquatic plant control research program.
