| 説明 | Introduced, cool-season, annual, small, tufted grass; usually 5-15 cm tall (rarely to 30 cm). Leaves are light-green, hairless and soft. • Flowerheads are open panicles 1-12 cm long. Spikelets are about 5 mm long and 3-10-flowered; lemmas are unawned and often pink-tinged, with hairs along their veins. Flowers from late winter to spring. A native of Europe, it is found in shady and/or moist disturbed areas with little competition. A minor weed of cultivated land and lawns; more abundant where ground cover is reduced. An indicator of poor autumn-spring competition. A low yielding and generally poorly competitive in pastures, it is of negligible feed value to livestock. Can be a problem in certain years and locations;especially after wet autumns, where only short or sparse warm-season species are present and when preparing land for autumn sowing. Its abundance can be reduced by maintaining a dense autumn ground cover; this limits its ability to establish. Its abundance is also reduced by productive winter growing species such as Rye Grass and White Clover. It has limited response to fertiliser and is rarely individually in pastures. |
