説明A postcard photo of a British Airways supersonic transport (SST) Concorde taking off, probably at London's Heathrow Airport. Concorde was a joint French-British venture. It was flown by Air France and British Airways from 1976 to 2003. It flew mainly across the Atlantic Ocean, between New York and Washington on one side, and London and Paris on the other. Other routes were attempted, but were not successful. Many countries, including the U.S., restricted supersonic commereical flights over land. Concorde flew between London and Barbados in the Caribbean Sea in the winter for several years. My father wrote this postcard on a BA Concorde from Washington to London. "We are now going 1400 mph [2250 kph] and we can see the curvature of the earth. The dinner was elegant but might have been better on Air France."
