| 説明 | Sons of Rest (SoR) were a network of social clubs situated mainly around Birmingham (West Midlands) to provide leisurely and recreational activities for the use of ex-Servicemen. The SoR movement was founded by Lister Muff (1852-1938) in 1927 and their first purpose-built clubhouse was opened in 1930 at Handsworth Park, Birmingham. Many more followed and at the movement’s peak there were some 29 SoR clubs having over 3,000 members. Interestingly, clubhouses were usually sited within the city’s municipal parklands. After WW2 membership was extended to included retired and elderly persons from within the club’s local community. In more recent times, many SoR became extinct as membership dwindled to zero while the remaining clubs face an uncertain future due to cutbacks in local authority funding.Presumably, this membership badge would have been used by all SoR clubs within the Birmingham City area.www.restirred.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1518&...
