| 説明 | Believers write their wish on a colorful piece of paper, then roll it up, weight it down with a fruit (usually an orange) and throw it up. Legend has it that if your scroll is caught up in the branches of the tree, your wish will come true.(Aug. 2002)(Loss of colour and quality due to scan from print: photo was taken on 35mm film). Update 2012: On my subsequent solo visit in 2012, I gave the wishing trees a miss, as I heard that subsequent to an accident in 2002, when one of the branches gave way and fell down, injuring two people, people are no longer allowed to throw their wishes up the branches. The trees have apparently been almost stripped bare, under a rehabilitation programme, and wooden frames are installed instead for the people to hang their wishes. |
