| 説明 | Two glasses of beer, Røyk Uten Ild (left) and Hesjeøl (right), from HaandBryggeriet in Drammen, Norway, served on draft at Amundsen Bryggeri & Spiseri in Oslo.Røyk Uten Ild or Smoke Without Fire is an 8% dark ale brewed with smoked malt (86% of the malt bill) from Weyermann in Bamberg, the home of rauchbier, in Germany. It poured a dark brown color with a light brown head. It had a wonderful bonfire-like smoke aroma, with notes of chocolate and sweet malt. The mouthfeel was medium heavy with a strong carbonation. The flavor was fairly sweet but balanced by a rich smoke character and some coffee roasted malt. It had a long aftertaste with lingering smoke and sweet malts. A rich and delicious smoke beer.Hesjeøl is a 7% abv traditional harvest ale brewed with a small amount of smoked malts. It was one of the new beers introduced by HaandBryggeriet in 2010 and it quickly became their most popular beer. It poured a beautiful red tinged copper color, completely clear, with a white head. It sported a mild sweet berries aroma with hints of smoke. The mouthfeel was medium heavy with a smooth, creamy texture. The flavor started out with a light caramel sweetness, ripe berries and a mild smoke character - much milder than Røyk Uten Ild. It had a good bitter finish with some lingering ashy notes in the aftertaste. |
