| 説明 | 'Vinayak' is another name for the elephant headed Hindu God Ganesh (or Ganpati). People of the Hindu faith in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra often refer to 'ashta vinayak' (Sanskrit, which translates as 'eight vinayaks'). There are eight particularly holy shrines spread out around Maharashtra states which make up each of the 'ashta vinayak' (eight Vinayak) temples. This signboard in one of the Ashta Vinayak temples in Mahad gives the locations of all the eight of the ashta vinayak temples. Many are located in very small towns, accessibly only by car or by the rough and ready state buses directly from Pune (Poona) or from the nearest railhead, so some people try to take the challenge of visiting all the eight 'ashta vinayaks' during their lifetime. For the benefit of those who cannot read the script, the Ashtavinayak sites are: (starting from top, then left to right then bottom): Lenyadri, Ojhar, Mahad, Ranjangaon, Pali, Theur, Siddhatek and Morgaon.
