| 説明 | This 1930's style suitcase amp's amplifier comes from the Webster Electrical corp. (WEBCOR) unknown (post-Prelude model?) Phonograph console. info for amp is at (www.radiomuseum.org/r/webster_webcor_1863_ch_14x274_1.html)I recapped then altered the amp by minimizing the four original control / function pots down to a volume control and a single tone control. I used one of the vacant chassis holes to mount the guitar input jack, and relocated and mounted a proper on/off switch in an extra opened hole that was on the chassis. The speaker Itself was an interesting and effective endeavor. I had a very old lansing field coil speaker (cone disintegrated, the field coil corroded way beyond repair) but I loved its look. So I gutted out the inside of the Lansing speaker. I bought a Jensen MOD 8, removing the gasket and carefully separating the cone from the front of the basket, drilling and removing the terminal plate. Next I brought both speakers over to my friends machine shop. Where we placed the MOD 8 into a CNC machine face down, and cut the back plate around the front of the magnet off, freeing up and removing the basket. Next we placed the Lansing speaker into the CNC machine faced down with the back cover removed and cut out the round back plate of the lancing's basket. My next stunt was to carefully mount the MOD 8 into the the old lansing field coil speaker; within an hour and quite a bit of tweaking, I made it so.I had an old tweed suitcase that I had kept extra cables and junk in for many years. I believe it was one of my grandma's old cases. So I proceeded to cut a circular hole into the front for the speaker, and I cut out a rectangular opening in the rear for ventilation. The front round speaker grill which I had been using for a trivet in my kitchen for a few years, I scavenged it from a demolished home. I think it was an exterior exhaust vent of some sort. the rectangular grate was an old floor register that I found in pile of rubble.I drilled a hole through the side of the suitcase and mounted a grommet so I could pass the AC cord through.I also mounted a name plate from an old piece of machinery on the front of the Suitcase Amplifier. |
