| 説明 | After years of going to car shows and dealing with do-not-touch trailer queens and their finicky owners, this faded pink beauty called to me like a siren playing a lyre. The owner bought this car in Arkansas several years ago, and has the documentation that this car was licensed and driven in California from 1967 until 1999.He's checked with GM, and they told him that several pink '67 Firebirds were either owned by or titled to singer Nancy Sinatra; he has a production still from a movie she made in '67 showing her walking in her famous thigh-high boots to a '57 Thunderbird, with a pink '67 Firebird clearly visible in a garage in the background. Was it this car? Did she own this one? And drive it? If it could only talk.It was a special order, built in June of 1967 and painted Mist Pink, a color that was not available as a regular production color on Firebirds until the 1968 model year.Californians have it so easy where cars are concerned; a car like this in Chicago, where I live and where they dump salt on the street at the mention of the word "snow", would have rusted away to a pile of orange dust by now. (This is how this car would have looked after about 10 years of Chicago winters.) In Cali, people can use 20, 30, 40, 50 even 60-year old cars as daily drivers. Why anybody in the Golden State would buy anything made today, just to get self-pumping brakes and an exploding balloon in the steering wheel, I have yet to figure out.If I lived out there, I'd buy a Nineteen-Sixty-Something convertible with a small V8 to save on gas, and never put the top up, except in the rainy season. |
