| 説明 | Click here to learn more about Camp HumphreysU.S. Army photos by Rakendra MooreTea provides ‘quality time’ opportunityBy Kendra MooreUSAG Humphreys Public AffairsCAMP HUMPHREYS – Mother’s, daughters, and their dolls were able to get all dressed up and spend some quality time together at the Mommy and Me Tea Party, held in Tommy D’s, July 14.Billed as a chance to participate in a “proper” English-style tea party, the available slots for the event filled up quickly to the point that there needed to be a waiting list established.“This is (one of) the clubs’ ways to support the Army Family commitment, so the parents can spend quality time with their kids,” said Lisa Hogue, catering manager. This program, along with Father-Daughter dances and Father-Son Adventure Day (scheduled for Aug. 4) are a series of events where children get special attention for the parent participating.Little girls were able to enjoy the playful environment -- dancing on the floor, eating, and watching Snow White or Sleeping Beauty on a big screen. There was an array of foods, including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, fruits, and cupcakes.“I was excited about it,” said mother Candy Fallon, about the program. “Just spending that one-on-one time is great and I enjoy seeing the other kids, too.”Each mother was presented with a hat to wear and the daughters were given jewel adorned tiaras. In addition to all of the activities, there were prizes, with winners receiving tea sets. “It's nice. I've never been here before, so this is a good experience," said Alison Morgan. She added that the highlight of her day was, “just getting dressed up with my daughter and doing something special with her.”Another mother, Jessica Hayek, said, “We've had years of practice at home with tea parties, and this is our first ‘real one.’”Pam Angell may have summed up the occasion best when she said, “It's been a fun day to focus on spending time with my daughters.” |
