| 説明 | This is the main altar at the Confucius Museum in Wenchang City, Hainan Province, China. Note the offerings of fruit and wine in the foreground. Incense is burnt in the bowl behind these offerings and devotees still offer a prayer to this great man.I read somewhere that he died a disillusioned man after devoting his life to the improvement of his country's intellectual and moral codes, only to believe his ideas had been abandoned. If only he knew!!The sign above the alter reads "Wan Shi Shi Biao" which means "Million Century Teacher Example" or "Set good example forever". |
