| 説明 | Introduced warm-season perennial tufted grass to 1.2 m tall and arising from short knotty rhizomes. Ligules are a dense rim of hairs. Flowerheads are narrow, cylindrical, spike-like panicles to 10 cm long. Uniformly yellow or purplish bristles occur below each 2-flowered spikelet and remain on the flowerhead when the spikelets fall. Flowers in summer and autumn. A native of America, it is a weed of roadsides and disturbed areas. More common in years with good late spring/summer rainfall and poor ground cover. Palatable when young, but rapidly becomes stemmy and is then avoided by stock. Usually of insufficient density to require specific management. Graze frequently to delay flowering and maintain feed quality. |
