| 説明 | A father and his kids trio speeds past our boat on the outskirts of the Kompong Phluk floating village on the mighty Tonle Sap lake near Siem Reap, Cambodia. We seem to have cleared the rather congested village at long last have are now at it's outskirts.. This one of the larger motorized boats- these are relatively less in number, for a vast majority of the boats we saw in the village were small row boats.The kids on this boat look on curiously. The man on the other hand pays no heed to us- he is probably a fisherman returning home after a tough fishing expedition, if the fishing nets on the boat are any indication. Note he is also towing another boat, the bow of which is barely visible at the extreme right. The Tonle Sap lake supports a very fragile ecosystem and also supports the livelihoods of the many locals living on and around it, who make their living fishing and doing agriculture on it's banks. The construction of large dams further downstream (by China, who else?) threatens to severely hamper the flow of fish and other aquatic animals into the lake, hence forming a threat to the livelihood of the locals. The fragine ecosystem is also under threat due to over utilization of natural resources and deforestation. Detailed notes about the Tonle Sap lake appeared earlier in this album.
