| 説明 | 350 Bedouin, Christian, Muslim, Druze, Jewish orthodox and secular Access students from ORT schools celebrated their 2-year English Access Microscholarship by traveling to the mixed Arab-Jewish city of Ramla to participate in an “English Service Learning” day. The Access students lead English language activities with 6th grade students in several local elementary schools. The students felt empowered to have had the responsibility of conducting a lesson in English and exposing younger students to English in a fun and interactive way. The English Access Microscholarship Program is a critical resource in helping students improve their English language skills and giving them an opportunity to reach for a higher education. The program builds tolerance, understanding, self confidence, and exposes students to American values and culture. Although still large, the gap in English language scores between different sectors living in Israel continues to narrow and this is largely due to programs such as Access. |
