| 説明 | FORT NORFOLK, Va. -- The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) delivered 60 bushels of oyster shells to the Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, April 6, 2012. The shells will be used to create oyster reefs and, in turn, restore native oysters in the Chesapeake Bay. Norfolk District partnered with fourth graders from Virginia Beach’s Seatack Elementary School in 2011 to grow baby oysters in floats and in the Spring of 2012 will put the baby oysters, or spat, on the reef. The reef is in the waters in front of historic Fort Norfolk. The reef is an effort to restore the oyster population and improve the health of the Elizabeth River and the Chesapeake Bay.
