| 説明 | Last year when we were at the Gulf it was the one year anniversary of the oil spill. Signs of it were everywhere. Though the Gulf was its usual pristine blue, there was no wildlife to be seen. No birds. No dolphins. No crabs. No shells.This year it seemed to be better. We were able to crab one evening. We found about ten big crabs. Granted, it was not like in years past, but they were there. Bird life seemed to be growing, with pelicans swooping low over the water. We saw dolphins swimming, but heard from a fisherman that they are having respiratory problems. A few shells were found, but not like when we first started to visit ten years ago. Cobia, a fish that is usually around in the Gulf this time of year, has been hard to catch. Not many fisherman have seen them. They aren't sure what's going on. It's encouraging to see growth again, but let us not forget that it will take some time, if ever, for the environment to come back to an environmental paradise. |
