| 説明 | Gotipua is a traditional dance form of Orissa state in India, and the pre-curser of Odissi classical dance. [1] It has been performed in Orissa for centuries, by young boys who dress up as female to praise Lord Jagannath and Lord Krishna. The actual form of the dance is executed by a group of boys who perform acrobatic figures inspired by the life of Radha & Krishna. The boys start to learn the dance at an early age until adolescence, when their androgynous look is fading. In the Oriya language Gotipua means single boy (goti-pua) [2]. Raghurajpur, Orissa, near Puri is heritage village known for its ‘Gotipua’ dance troupes. |
