| 説明 | I came across these ruins in Sydenham woods in South London recently. They are meant to represent a medieval monastery or religious house. However, it appears they are a folly built in the 1860s (more info at Wikepedia) and were originally in the grounds of a house. There is also remains of a railway line, station and tunnels in the wood. The wood itself is a remnant of the great northwood that confusingly covered much of south London. There is also abundant wildlife in the wood with rare plants and trees. I did see a few treecreeper birds dancing up trunks. |
