| 説明 | Bass Harbor Head Light is a lighthouse located within Acadia National Park on the west side of Mount Desert Island, Maine, United States. In 1855 it was deemed that there was sufficient reason for a lighthouse at the mouth of Bass Harbor. $5000 was appropriated for construction in 1858. Construction of a fog bell and tower were completed in 1876, and an upgraded bell was placed inside the tower in 1898. The Bell tower does not exist today. In 1902 a brick house was built 205 feet northwest of the lighthouse. Bass Harbor's 5th order Fresnel lens was replaced in 1902 to a larger 4th order. This lens was manufactured by the french company Henry-Lepaute. This lens remains to this very day.Today, the house is actually a private residence for a local coast guard and his family. Tourists can get close to the bell and light via a concrete path, but most of the grounds remain off-limits. There is also a short walk to granite boulders that provide a great view of the harbor side of the lighthouse. From: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_Harbor_Head_Lighten.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_Creative_Commons_... |
