| 説明 | On Holloway in Tamworth.Location of the only blue plaque I found in the town.This building was The Bank House. Built between 1845-46 to house the Tamworth Savings Bank (founded 1823).At 9 Holloway.Grade II listed.9, TamworthTAMWORTHSK2003NE LADY BANK670-1/9/95 (West side)09/11/72 No.9(Formerly Listed as:HOLLOW WAYNo.9)GV IISavings Bank, now part of office. Dated 1845. For Sir RobertPeel P.M. Brick; buff brick facade with ashlar dressings; tileroof with ashlar end stacks. L-plan. Domestic Tudor style. 2storeys; 3-window range. Ashlar base, top cornice and parapet.Tudor-headed entrance has label mould and cusped spandrels,4-panel door. 2-storey canted oriels to forward breaks undergables, moulded bases and ribs to 1:2:1-light windows withpanels between floors, brattished cornices; narrow central 1stfloor light. Gables have relief town arms with mermaidsupporters; parapet ends have lettering: AD and 1845. Endstacks have octagonal shafts. Gabled rear wing with copedgable, cross-axial and end stacks; small-paned casements.Interior not inspected.(N.Gash: Sir Robert Peel: 1972-: 172).Listing NGR: SK2055403958Sculptures on the top of the house. |
