| 説明 | This is Richard (Risteárd) Mulcahy being filmed by Gordon Lewis, cameraman with Pathé Gazette. There are, however, a couple of issues with this photo from our Independent Newspapers Collection.We have two versions of this shot. This one is dated 1919. An identical one is dated 1923. Mulcahy is described as "General", a designation he did not have until the 1920s, and his appearance in civilian clothing ties in with a 1919 dating.However, (John) Gordon Lewis does not seem to have worked for Pathé Gazette until the early 1920s. In 1919, he was probably still working for Kellester (Killester?) Films and Irish Events in Dublin.So we have a dilemma about the date for this one - what think ye, Flickroonies?Date: 1919? 1923?NLI Ref.: INDH68 |
