| 説明 | As the image title implies, this polyhedron is a structurally simple 3x3x3 lattice of 27 cuboctahedra separated by 54 square prisms. I have employed a similar "diagonal rainbow gradient" coloring scheme in the past; I think it worked well here.Concentrating a relatively high number of units (216 triangles, 270 squares, and 864 joining tabs) into such a compact volume has given this object a "hefty" feeling that I did not expect. However, it is sturdy and strong, and could easily be extended to larger sizes without compromising its structural integrity.The calendar time needed to complete this project was excessive, even by my own slow standards. I settled upon a strategy that I now know to be ineffective: only folding on those Tuesdays and Saturdays when I managed to get to a public library. Most of that time was spent teaching members of the aforesaid public how to fold flat unit origami which, while admittedly fulfilling, set back my schedule and paper resources every time I did it.Contrast that with the wall clock time, which is probably fewer than 40 hours. I know that it took about 200 minutes of straight folding to finish off the final 2½ cuboctahedra (3 blue half-cuboctahedra and the purple corner block.) |
